Savory pie crust with EVOO

Ingredients for Pie Crust

  • 150 g half stone-ground whole wheat flour
  • 150 wheat flour
  • 100 ml white wine
  • 70 ml Extra virgin olive oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of sugar
  • Filling of your choice

To prepare savoury pie (or “torta salata”) you can choose among two different kinds of pastry, with or without butter. We have prepared one with wine and EVO Oil – very tasty!

Directions

Mix flour, salt and sugar with EVO Oil, then add the wine and mix for another 5-10 minutes and let it rest at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. Roll out the pastry up to 32 cm diameter and put it into a 26 cm circle oven tray. Pierce the dough with a fork and cook it in a preheated oven at 200 ° C for 15 mins. Add the filling and cook it for an additional 30 mins.
We choose to prepare our savory pie crust tart with leeks, Grana Padano parmesan cheese and eggs.
